Hedy Goldsmith is Baking Out Loud in the Cayman Islands:

In her first cookbook, the executive pastry chef of Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink hares favorite recipes for sweet panini, puddings, pies, and more irresistible desserts

In her first cookbook, BAKING OUT LOUD: Fun Desserts with Big Flavors (Clarkson Potter/Publishers; on sale October 2, 2012; CI $27.50; hardcover), Hedy Goldsmith brings back the nostalgia of childhood treats such as Oreos, Twinkies, and Pop-Tarts—and cookies, brownies, puddings, pies, cakes, ice cream, and more—and pumps up the volume with bold flavors and exciting recipes that are sophisticated yet simple enough to make at home.

The cookbook will be available at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink Grand Cayman beginning October 2, and Goldsmith will be on-island later in the month to celebrate with three events:

Join Hedy for treats and a talk about her new cookbook, moderated by local food journalist Alan Markoff of the  Caymanian Compass. The new author will be available to sign books and share tastes of a few favorite recipes with guests.

Join Michael’s Genuine and Slow Food South Sound for the next in their monthly family-style dinners in honour of local farmers and this time, with a special emphasis on dessert! Enjoy a four-course dinner featuring local ingredients and dessert that’s a sweet and salty slice of the recipes inside Baking Out Loud. Some of Hedy’s fondest childhood memories include trips to the Entenmann’s bakery outlet with her mom and baking pies in her Easy-Bake Oven. As an adult, and the executive pastry chef of Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink in Miami and Grand Cayman, she keeps the fun in dessert by maximizing the flavor of bespoke versions of everyone’s favorites and introducing her own simple and addictive recipes, including her famous gooey Banana Toffee Panini and her signature version of the classic Pop-Tart, Pop T’s.
