Hyatt demolitions and renovations started

Last week work started on demolishing areas of the old Hyatt Regency Hotel, part of the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman Resort, that has stood empty and deteriorating ever since Hurricane Ivan hit Grand Cayman in September, 2004.

Cayman Recycling began stripping the hotel of its metal and we understand the hotel will be part renovated and renovated to its former glory.

Until the Ritz-Carlton opened for business the following year the Hyatt was the best hotel in the Cayman Islands.

However, the deluxe beachside suites building of the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman Resort, which was an exclusive part of the main resort, was saved and renovated. It is now called the Grand Cayman Beach Suites Hotel.

It has 53 suites all featuring fantastic views of Seven Mile Beach and has added numerous amenities and services to ensure that the beach suites are established as a “Luxury accommodation” in the Caribbean.

The Grand Cayman Beach Suites has continually developed the hotel, adding Spa facilities, the island’s largest Red Sail Sports branch and improving the Jack Nicklaus designed golf course.

The Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman Resort property covered 90 acres.
