Special Delivery

The week starting Monday, 5 November, GIS Spotlight brings you a very special service, reminds you of the Bill of Rights’ start up, and focuses again on the proposed marine parks upgrade.

Opportunities abound in Cayman for those who want to volunteer and there are many who do so. Yet one group garners a special place in our hearts for sheer dedication to its role. The RCIPS’ Special Constabulary comprises men and women from the community, who work hand-in-hand with law enforcement to keep the Islands safe.

Join us to hear what these brave individuals do when they are out on the beat or on patrol. Learn what keeps them motivated, and how you can join their ranks to keep our streets safer and our people more secure.

Next, GIS Spotlight reminds you that on 6 November 2012, Cayman’s Bill of Rights takes effect. This will provide you with local judicial recourse for any breaches of those rights and freedoms.

The Deputy Governor explains how public officials have been preparing for this event. Discover what your protections are, and what remedies are available to you if you feel aggrieved.

On our last stop, we revisit the marine parks and the Department of Environment’s ongoing efforts with its partners to offer much needed protection of our marine environment.

Learn how you can comment on these vital proposals and help to ensure that the Islands’ future generations enjoy vibrant seas filled with marine life and breath-taking seascapes.

Produced by GIS Marketing and Communications, GIS Spotlight highlights government’s services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you.

The weekly programme airs Mondays on Cayman27 at 8 p.m. and on Saturdays at 6 p.m.

All stories seen in the week’s GIS Spotlight can also be found on the GIS Marketing and Communications website: www.gis.ky.

Comments and suggestions about the programme are always welcome. Viewers can provide feedback by e-mailing [email protected].
