tvebiomovies 2012 finalists chosen

tvebiomovies is a global environmental film competition

Now it’s time to vote! The decision has been made – of 420 film proposals from 86 countries, 10 finalists have been selected, they have produced their films, and their one-minute movies are now live on YouTube. Now it’s over to the global public to choose their favourites.

Views equal votes, so the most-watched films will win. There will be one victor in each of the five categories – so each film has a 50:50 chance to win. This year’s finalists range from 15 to 41 years old and come from Australia, Cameroon, Portugal, India, Kazakhstan, the UK and Ukraine.

Their short films are creative takes on big ideas, including recycling, climate change and sustainable lifestyles and use animation, music and drama to effectively convey their message. Each of the final 10 films will be screened at the UN Climate Conference COP 18 in Doha later this month.

Last year there were 500,000 views across the final films and this year looks set to be even more popular. The competition deadline is 10 January 2013.

The top ten tvebiomovies were chosen by a judging panel which included representatives from the funders of the film competition. tvebiomovies is sponsored by DBU (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt), WWF-UK, the Lighthouse Foundation, J and H Sales, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and YouTube.  Visit http://tiny.cc/i2o4nw.

Now in its third year, tvebiomovies is a film competition that was open to anyone aged from 9 to 99 around the world with access to a camera. With prize money of $1500 and the chance to have a film screened at the UN COP18 Conference in Qatar, this is a truly global environmental film contest.
