Maples and Calder Gives to the National Trust

Maples and Calder partner, Dale Crowley, presents the cheque to Christina McTaggart and Carla Reid of the National Trust for the Cayman Islands

Maples and Calder recently committed US$20,000 per annum to the National Trust for the Cayman Islands (the “National Trust”) to assist with their operations and programmes over the next three years.

The National Trust is a non-profit, statutory body with a mission to preserve natural environments and places of historic significance in the Cayman Islands for present and future generations.

“We are delighted that Maples and Calder has chosen to make this extremely generous commitment to the National Trust. At a time when our environment and historic sites are under increased pressure, these funds will go a long way toward our efforts to preserve them for future generations,” said National Trust General Manager, Christina McTaggart. “This donation will be extremely helpful in allowing us to reach out to the Cayman Islands community, particularly our young people.”

The National Trust organises a variety of programmes, covering Historic, Environmental and Educational aspects of the Cayman culture. They work to establish a system of protected areas across all three Islands to ensure the survival of Cayman’s native plants and species. The National Trust promotes awareness and appreciation of Cayman’s built heritage, bringing the unique culture and history of Cayman to life. National Trust initiatives like the Blue Iguana Recovery programme help endangered species, while their outreach events open a world of knowledge and discovery.

“We are pleased to support the National Trust in their efforts to preserve valuable aspects of the Cayman culture and environment,” said Dale Crowley, partner at Maples and Calder. “We hope that this donation will assist them in keeping these programmes alive and to educate the community at large on the importance of such initiatives.”

Maples and Calder actively supports a broad range of organisations and initiatives which benefit members of the community, including the youth and the elderly.
