UPDATE: Prison officer injured and 2 Cuban missing migrants captured

Prison Officer Injured

Prison officials report that a member of staff was injured today (Friday, 4 January) at HM Prison Northward, during the course of his duties.

RCIPS and Health Services responded and an investigation is being carried out into the incident.

 

Two Cuban Migrants who fled Detention Centre (DC) Captured

Since the following was placed iNews Cayman has just learnt that the two Cuban migrants have been captured

Officials report that two male Cuban detainees, Wilfredo Alarcon and Francisco Perez Rodrigues, were discovered missing from the Immigration Detention Centre last night, Thursday, 3 January, 2013.

The private security company which manages them discovered the two were missing from the holding facility during a routine head-count. Immigration, RCIPS and other uniformed agencies were immediately alerted.

Wilfredo Alarcon was born on October 15, 1990. He is five-feet eight-inches tall and weighs 130lbs. He has short black hair and brown eyes.

Francisco Perez Rodrigues bas born on April 18, 1989. He is five-feet six-inches tall and weighs 160lbs. He has short black hair and brown eyes.

These two are from the group of 25 that had arrived earlier in 2012.

Another group of five Cuban migrants arrived on December 27, 2012. The December arrivals brought to 30 the total number of migrants being held for processing and determinations of any asylum claims in the Cayman Islands – the largest total for some years.
