Groped By A Stingray In Grand Cayman
I’m sitting in Cozumel right now, sipping a margarita and preparing to tell you guys about all the action I got in Grand Cayman yesterday. Nope, I didn’t meet a new guy – I met some stingrays that got a little fresh with me.
I’m not saying I didn’t like it, but it wasn’t quite what I expected. Since I’m on my first cruise and all, I thought it would be fun to get off the ship for a while and go on one of the excursions while we were docked in Grand Cayman. I picked a tour that included Stingray City and snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef. My friends had been talking up Stingray City and how you get to swim with the stingrays and even pet them.
It was pretty incredible. The sandbar they take you to is about 25 minutes from the shore and is only about 3-4 feet deep. The stingrays swim right up to you – I even got to hold one.
What they don’t tell you, though, is that the stingrays like to get a little action from the tourists. I had several of them grope my butt while I was standing there in the water, and one even copped a feel of my chest. Not even kidding. Didn’t even buy me dinner first. Not complaining, though. Those stingrays were the most action I’ve had all week.
One did pucker up for a kiss with me. (At least it wasn’t a french kiss, right?)
After the stop at Stingray City, the boat took us out for snorkeling. We were supposed to go to the Great Barrier Reef, but the tide was too rough so we wound up snorkeling kinda near it. We still saw coral and fish, but not as much as we would have seen right on the reef. I didn’t mind, though. I got to see another stingray swimming around while we were out near the reef, and it was even bigger (and probably a lot less tame) than the ones from Stingray City.
So far, Grand Cayman has been my favorite of all the ports on this cruise, and I can’t wait to come back and bring Levi to visit!
