11-year-old girl escapes suspected kidnapper’s car in California, says she freed another girl, 7
The man was in a red convertible near Founders Park in Whittier, Calif. He is suspected in other abduction attempts, say cops.
A suspected molester grabbed an 11 year-old girl and forced her into the back seat of his red convertible near Founders Park in Whittier, Calif. Inside she saw tear’s streaming down the cheeks of an even younger girl, about 7, who was hitherto utterly helpless.
The predicament prompted the preteen to pint-sized heroics: She managed to escape the vehicle unscathed and free the other child about 2:35 p.m. Thursday, said authorities.
“She knew at that point, I guess, that she was in a bad spot,” Lt. Kent Miller told NBC News.
They ran off in separate directions. The 11-year-old recounted her tale to police but the younger girl’s whereabouts are unsettlingly unknown.
Cops are keeping their eyes out for the creep who kept his eyes out for children. Police believe he is responsible for two other known abduction attempts on Feb. 5.
Girls and witnesses from each incident provided roughly the same suspect description: a 25-35 year old Hispanic male, between 5-feet-11 and 6-feet tall, with black hair and three dots tattooed on his left hand.
A man pulled his car alongside a 17-year-old girl a few blocks from Founders Park at 11:25 a.m. She declined his offer for a ride but he stopped his car and opened the door nonetheless, so she fled and called the police, according to the Whittier Police Department.
Later that day, at 4:40 p.m., a man fitting the same description argued with two high-school-aged girls who refused to get into his car near Whittier’s Central Park, a witness said.
