14 March 2013 • Mr Gonzalo Jalles, Cayman Finance CEO, surprised local student, Chamelle Williams with an iPad Mini as first prize in the “Fact or Fiction” competition run by the organisation at the 2013 Cayman Chamber of Commerce Expo held on Friday, February 8th.

The competition was run to help dispel myths about the financial services sector among the local community and particularly in this case among Cayman’s youth.

“It’s important for young people researching career options to know you don’t have to be just an accountant or lawyer to work in financial services.”  Mr Jalles said.  “There are wide variety of occupations available, including marketing, human resources, and IT.  It was a pleasure to have an opportunity to speak with local high school students, and we were thrilled to have so many ask questions and enter our competition.”

“Much of Cayman Finance’s focus is on educating at an international level; however, we are always seeking to engage in other local events to capture the minds of our local population.  We want to ensure they become our biggest supporters,” he said. “A huge part of our mission is to cultivate more accurate perceptions of the financial services industry in and outside of Cayman.”

Mr Jalles attended Cayman Academy and surprised lucky competition winner Chamelle Williams, a year 10 student, with the prize during the school’s morning assembly.

Chamelle’s mother, Chamayrane, a secretary at the school said, “The prize couldn’t have gone to a more deserving winner. I am so proud of Chamelle; she works so hard and has never missed a day of school! I am sure she will use her new prize to help with her studies. I am really happy for her,” said Chamayrane.
