Sugar Land officers shoot, kill man during confrontation

By Sonia Azad

SUGAR LAND, TX (KTRK) — An officer-involved shooting left a man dead last night in Sugar Land. Investigators believe the man was arguing with his parents moments before the shooting.

It all happened at a home on Lake Field Boulevard near Grand Cayman Parkway around 9pm {Sunday 6]

Ted Isensee says his 31-year-old son suffered from bipolar disorder as well as generalized anxiety disorder. His son had apparently been at the hospital yesterday for various reasons.

The son came home agitated and, according to his father, threatened to kill himself and threatened his parents. That’s when the parents called police for help.

According to investigators, when police officers arrived, the son came out of the house with a rifle pointed at them. Officers asked the man twice to put down the weapon, which he had gotten out of his vehicle, but he didn’t comply. Instead, he pointed the rifle at police, which is when officers shot and killed him.

It’s still unclear how many officers were involved in the shooting. An investigation is underway.
