Explorer re Police ShootingwebtopThe Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) announced on Monday (15) that two more persons, a man aged 22 and a woman aged 29 years were arrested on Friday 12 April in connection with the incident, already reported by iNews Cayman, where shots were fired at police officers after a vehicular chase.

The two previous suspects, aged 22 and 29 years, who were arrested last week in connection with the same incident have been released on police bail while the investigation continues.

A black Ford Explorer 129 645 (see attached) was used in the shooting and was recovered by police. The owner of the vehicle parked it at the Camana Bay (cinema) open car park at approximately 6.50pm on Thursday 11 April. The vehicle was removed approximately one hour later at around 7.50pm. A police unit sighted and followed the vehicle at approximately 8.10pm at Esterley Tibbetts, Camana Bay.

The Explorer suddenly drove off and sped into Lakeside Condos. The officers followed the SUV, which then crashed through a fence.

The four occupants of the SUV bailed out of the vehicle and, as they ran off,  shots were fired at the officers who were pursuing them on foot.

None of the officers were inured.

Anyone who saw the vehicle at Camana Bay or elsewhere that evening between 6.50 and 8.10 is asked to contact the police via the following numbers – George Town CID on 949-4222, the RCIPS Tip-line 949-7777 or Crime Stoppers 800-8477(TIPS).
