In 2012 the Swordfish Challenge was “a success beyond all expectations”. Over two nights, 9 boats and 35 anglers in Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac experience the Islands’ abundant swordfishery. When a tournament takes place, everybody from directors to sponsors to anglers want the same thing. They all want fish and happy people. Everybody involved with the Cayman Islands Swordfish Challenge 2012 got their wish. Nine boats and 35 anglers fished the waters of Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac for the evenings of 30 and 31 March catching 10 fish. With half the boats catching fish, this is a great success in any swordfish tournament. Two key added circumstances made this event even better. First, the fish averaged 100 pounds, and, secondly, three swordfish were tagged and released both nights.
