CONCACAF Elections

Cayman Islands football chief Jeffrey Webb is unopposed for the FIFA Executive Committee seat from the Caribbean.

The key vote is on who to elect as FIFA Executive Committee member from North America.

Mexico’s Justino Compean is standing against American Sunil Gulati, the head of U.S. Soccer who also led his nation’s 2022 World Cup bid.

Campaigning for AFC Presidency

With two-and-a-half weeks until the AFC presidential elections, the four candidates are hitting the campaign trail this week in a bid to win new supporters in what promises to be a close-run contest.

The four vying to succeed corruption-hit Mohamed Bin Hammam are: Yousuf AI Serkal, the head of the United Arab Emirates Football Association, Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim AI Khalifa of Bahrain, FIFA vice-president Worawi Makudi of Thailand and Saudi Arabia’s Hafez Ibrahim AI Medlej.

Speaking from Dubai to INSIDER, AI Serkal said he would be travelling to “different countries in Asia” over the next five days in hi s efforts to seal some votes.

The AFC vice president denied that any agreement had been made with AI Medlej for the Saudi Arabian to pull out of the race, something he had hinted at before adding that his campaign was “looking positive. I am happy with it. I am confident.”
