Tributes are continuing to pour in for tragic Shakara Taylor, who died in the Cayman Islands on Wednesday.

Miss Taylor, 31, was a keen dancer, originally from Grange Park in Blackpool.

She moved to the paradise isle three years ago.

Miss Taylor’s body was found outside an eight-storey apartment block in the Prospect* area on Wednesday afternoon. She died of serious head injuries.

Today, her friend Kimberley Barnard, 29, of Bailey Avenue, Fairhaven, shared her memories of Miss Taylor.

She said: “She was loved so much by so many people.

“We used to dance together with the Crusaders Morris Dancers club, and she had so many good friends there.

“We were both always such positive thinkers, with a ‘believe and achieve’ mentality. We kept each other going.

“It’s such a shame that she made a life out there for herself and now she’s been taken away.”

Jill Currie is the principal of Blackpool Crusaders Morris Dancers. In a statement, she said: “Shakara was a Blackpool Crusader morris dancer for many years.

“Whenever she was around there was never a dull moment. She was beautiful, talented, clever and mischievous. Like myself, members who remember her are devastated.”

The dance group wore ribbons in memory of Miss Taylor at a competition at Fleetwood High School yesterday.

Mrs Currie added: “Myself and my daughter, Ashleigh, will never forget you Shakara, you were so bubbly and the life and soul of any party.

“I always thought of you as a daughter to me and I will cherish every moment of our time that we spent together.”

An inquest was due to open in the Cayman Islands today [Tue 4]. Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding Miss Taylor’s death.
