Two-vehicle crash – car catches fire
Last Sat (22) a Corvette Z06 burst into flames following a collision with a Ford Range pick-up truck at the junction of Shedden Road and Thomas Russell Avenue, George Town, by Jacques Scott Liquors & Wine.
The truck was travelling on Thomas Russell Avenue towards North Sound Road when it was struck by the Corvette that was travelling on North Sound Road towards Thomas Russell Avenues, as it tried to turn right on to Shedden Road.
As a result of the crash, the truck flipped on its side and the Corvette caught fire.
A spokesperson for the Royal Cayman islands Police Service said they understood a member of the public helped free the driver of the burning Corvette.
Police, fire and EMS personnel all attended the scene and officers from the fire service extinguished the Corvette.
All three persons, one male (49) from the Corvette, and a male (44) with a female (31) passenger from the truck were all treated at the George Town Hospital with only minor injuries.
The police confirmed that both drivers were breathalysed and the results were negative for alcohol.
