FLORIDA, United States. It’s long been said that a picture is worth a thousand words, and images just released from the night that 34-year-old NFL veteran Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson allegedly hauled-off and head-butted his new bride Evelyn Lozada are a good case in point.
The photographs, which were taken by Davie Police and obtained by celebrity website TMZ, show the Puerto Rican-born “Ev and Ocho” star in a Florida emergency room with a bloody three-inch-long head gash as one of the souvenirs she allegedly collected from the “domestic dispute” with her then-husband and co-star.
The release of the photographs marks the first time that any images have been publicly viewed of the incident that led Lozada to file for divorce within weeks of the couple’s Caribbean dream wedding in St Maarten on July 4 last year.
The heated altercation, said to have been triggered by a row over Johnson’s purchase of contraceptives, saw the NFL veteran wideout arrested on domestic violence charges and dropped from his hometown Miami Dolphins’ roster.
While neither Johnson nor Lozada commented publicly on the release of the pictures, a representative for the Puerto Rican reality TV star was quoted as saying that Lozada has moved on and put the incident behind her.
“She’s forgiven him,” a member of the 36-year-old actress’ team said.
Lozada, who shot to stardom on the hit VH1 show “Basketball Wives” and was once engaged to NBA star Antoine Walker, is thought to be returning for another season of the reality show.
In the latest update regarding the case, meanwhile, Johnson on Monday reduced his 30-day prison term for violating probation.
The NFL veteran was released from jail after he apologized to Broward County Judge Kathleen McHugh for playfully slapping his attorney’s rear-end inside the courtroom last week.
