Butterfield Trust shortlisted for STEP Private Client Award
The Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son Limited (“Butterfield”) today announced that its international trust business comprising its companies in The Bahamas, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Switzerland and New Zealand has been shortlisted for Institutional Trust Team of The Year in the 2013 Society of Trust and Estate Practitioner (STEP) Private Client Awards.
The awards highlight excellence across the international private wealth sector, with entries undergoing a vigorous, three-stage judging process across 18 categories. Butterfield is one of five institutions to make the shortlist in its category, which is designed to acknowledge innovation and those that have made a major contribution to the trust profession.
The Institutional Trust Team of the Year category is open to trust companies owned by banks, which can demonstrate an ethical approach towards fiduciary responsibilities and duties, an understanding of the impact of tax on advice given, a clear policy for handling client data and client retention.
Trust has been a core Butterfield business for many decades, originating with the establishment of a trust company in Bermuda in 1936. Following the appointment of Bob Moore as Executive Vice President and Head of Group Trust in 2011, Butterfield has built on this heritage and long-term commitment to develop a global trust business.
Mr. Moore said, “The STEP awards are recognised internationally throughout the private client field and we are delighted to have been included in the shortlist. As our international trust business evolves and grows we will continue to invest in our employees’ skills and professional development so that we are able to meet the diverse and ever-changing needs of our clients.”
The STEP awards will be announced at a ceremony in London on 18 September 2013.
