Cayman’s soccer boys go to Disney
More than 70 young soccer stars from the Cayman Islands were in Orlando, Florida form July 15th to July 20th to take part in the Disney Cup International Youth Soccer Tournament – 2013 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Orlando, Florida.
The organiser’s here were Cayman’s Academy Sports Club and they had five boys’ teams participating in the U10, U12, U13, U15 and U16 categories.
Cayman did very well, especially as it was only the Cayman Islands second year of taking part in the Disney Cup.
The U10 team achieved the highest tournament ranking of their Cayman teammates, losing only in the gold medal match to a team from Venezuela.
Paul Byles, the U10 coach said the U12 team had played very well in a large and tough group. The U13s were runners-up in the silver finals, the U15s were runners-up in silver finals and the U16s were gold semifinalists.
