Dr Keith Mitchell – FilePrime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell has told legislators that equipment capable of intercepting communications had been purchased by the previous government.

Mitchell made the disclosure to legislators as Parliament debated the 2013 Interception Communications Bill.

Grenada has no legislation outlining penalties for any person illegally intercepting communications.

The new bill provides for law enforcement officials to apply to a Court for an order before intercepting anyone’s communication.

Mitchell, whose New National Party won all 15 seats in the February 19 general election, said he is convinced there were some people within the Tillman Thomas administration who engaged in illegal interception of communication.
