Kelly-Ann Baptiste: Trinidad and Tobago sprinter fails drugs test

Trinidad and Tobago sprinter Kelly-Ann Baptiste has failed a drugs test and will not compete at the World Championships in Moscow.

Baptiste won 100m bronze in the World Championships in Daegu two years ago and finished sixth at London 2012.

The 26-year-old was third in the 100m at the Anniversary Games on her return to London’s Olympic Stadium last month.

Former men’s world champion Tyson Gay and ex-100m world record holder Asafa Powell failed tests earlier this year.

A Jamaican footballer failed a drugs test following a World Cup qualifier against Honduras on 11 June.

It is a further blow to sport in the country after sprinters Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson tested positive for the banned stimulant oxilofrine last month.

The Jamaican Football Federation (JFF) has confirmed it had been informed by Fifa of the positive result.

An internal investigation has been opened by the JFF.

Jamaica lost the qualifier 2-0 in Honduras.
