Green Awe Films begins pre-production on short thriller
Local filmmakers Badir Awe and Trevor Murphy have begun pre-production on The Devil You Know, a short thriller film set in the Cayman Islands.
The Devil You Know unravels the story of a hit-man who comes to Cayman for a job but things don’t go exactly as planned. Filming is scheduled to begin in late October with sights set on it being ready for submission to the international film festival circuit in spring, 2014.
Co-director, Badir Awe says he’s excited to get the ball moving on the project, which he and co- director Trevor Murphy wrote earlier this year. Local cinematographer, Agustin “Froggy” Gonzalez and local producer, Judy Singh round out the production team. The Devil You Know is holding an open casting call on Saturday, September 21st and Sunday September 22nd from 1pm to 6pm at the Harquail Studio Theatre – (behind the Harquail main stage theatre.)
The production is seeking the following characters:
Vanessa – Female, late 20’s – early 30’s. Main character. Target. Playful and seemingly innocent yet intelligent and classy.
Bishop – Male, 30’s – 40’s. Main character. Hit man. Serious but with a great smile (like Tom Cruise in Collateral) Charming. A wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Josh – Male, late 20’s – 30’s. Minor role. Shady. Nervous around Bishop.
Renee – Female, late 20’s – early 30’s. Vanessa’s BFF. Sarcastic and snarky.
Isabelle – Female, late 20’s – early 30’s.. Vanessa’s BFF. Playful, flirty, optimistic
John Doe – Male 30’s – 40’s. Mystery man.
Victim – Female, late 20’s – early 30’s. Minor role.
