Carey Olsen has further strengthened its Cayman Islands practice with the appointment of Michael Makridakis as partner and head of litigation.

Mr Makridakis will assume responsibility for developing the firm’s litigation practice. He specialises in insolvency, restructuring and commercial litigation with an emphasis on litigation involving distressed funds.

He moved to the Cayman Islands in 2007 and has worked for two other leading offshore law firms in the jurisdiction. Before moving to the Cayman Islands he worked for Clayton Utz and Mallesons Stephen Jaques (now King & Wood Mallesons) in Australia.

Mr Makridakis’ appointment brings the partner numbers for Carey Olsen in the Cayman Islands to five with five associates in over a year.
