The Cayman Islands Olympic Fundraising event The Bold and the Beautiful will have extremely bold men and equally beautiful women coming together to create an evening of hilarity and fashion under the stars.

It is on Friday Oct. 25 from 5:30 p.m. at the George Town Barcadere. The Bold and the Beautiful is the first of many fundraising events on the social calendar of the Cayman Islands Olympic Fundraising Committee planned for this quadrennial period.

All proceeds from these events go to benefit Caymanian athletes pursuing dreams of competing in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Heather Roffey always supports these events. She was a swimming Olympian at the 2004 Games, as were Andrew MacKay and Shaun Fraser.

Fraser also went to the Beijing and London Olympics and intends to be at the Rio de Janeiro Games along with swimming brother Brett who went to Beijing and London too.

These events are created to solely raise funds to assist athletes and the committee always strives to give back to their many sponsors and supporters by making them entertaining. Great themes for fundraising nights recently have included a casino setting called Rolling the Dice and another one, Royal Ascot, complete with cardboard pin-ups of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The Bold and the Beautiful promises another one like those. With a lineup that includes deputy governor Franz Manderson, Minster of Sports Osbourne Bodden, Graham Hampson, Gary Benham, Alastair Swarbrick, Eric Bush, police commissioner David Baines, James Bovell, Andrew McLaughlin, Marcus Mueri, Shawn Lunt and Alex Goulden.

Women lined up include Miss Cayman Lindsay Japal, Cristin Alexander, Stephanie Foster-Wight, Tishay Heath, Sook Yin, April Cummings, Sabrina Foster, Lori McRae and Carol Tomascik.

The fundraising committee can now enjoy an even higher profile because Governor Helen Kilpatrick has become patron.

In addition to the fashion segment, there is a live auction. Items being auctioned are dinner for eight with the governor at her residence, dinner for six at Blue at the Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman, and a weekend for two at the St. Regis Hotel in Bal Harbour, Miami.

Also being auctioned is a weekend for two at the Westin Casuarina, weekend for two at the Holiday Inn, champagne brunch for four at Luca restaurant and some other wonderful prizes.

“VIP tickets are $100 per person and include a premier view from the VIP chalet, two hours of cocktails, canapés and great company, or $25 per ticket in advance or $35 at the door, champagne upon arrival.

Chief organizer Betty Baraud said: “We also have a three tier sponsorship level which consist of gold, silver and bronze, should anyone have an interest in becoming a sponsor, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you on this. We look forward to seeing you at the event.”
