Governor Helen Kilpatrick, Acting Deputy Governor Jennifer Ahearn, Minister of Gender Affairs Hon Tara Rivers took part in a dress down day today (6 December) in support of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign.

They were joined by other civil servants wearing purple and yellow to raise awareness of the fight against gender based violence.

Encouraging the public to get involved in the cause, Jennifer Ahearn said: “This campaign calls for an end to violence against women and, children, as well as men. These are objectives that we should all be able to unite behind.”

Sixteen Days of Activism encourages participants to consider how they can engage with their governments and communities to challenge and change structures and attitudes that perpetuate gender-based violence. This year it runs from 25 November to 10 December.
