CALIFORNIA, United States, Friday December 13, 2013 – It seems there’s just no stopping Jamaica’s Tessanne Chin whose powerful rendition of the Simon & Garfunkel classic “Bridge Over Troubled Water” left her coach speechless and earned her a spot in the top three who will vie for the honours in the finals of NBC’s The Voice season five next week.

The 28-year-old singer’s coach, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, was literally lost for words by her performance, which also drew tumultuous applause from the audience.

“I’ve never been speechless on this show before,” Levine said.

Tessanne’s stunning showing also made its mark on a wider audience, with “Bridge Over Troubled Water (The Voice Performance)” climbing to No. 1 on the iTunes music chart and staying put throughout Tuesday.

Rehearsals footage suggested that the Jamaican songstress battled to overcome some undisclosed personal issues to perform on Monday night’s live show, moreover.

Yet in spite of breaking down during rehearsals, Tessanne pulled off one of the best performances on The Voice to date, according to Levine.

The singer’s mother, Christine Weston, and her sister, Tami Chynn, were in California lending moral support and were among the members of the audience who cheered her on.

Several media reports have already identified Chin as the hot favourite to win this season’s competition and take home the coveted prize of a recording contract and US$100,000.

Next week Tessanne will face off against fellow finalists Will Champlin, also from Team Adam, and Jacqui Lee from Team Christina.

Team Adam’s James Wolpert and Cole Vosbury from Team Blake were eliminated on Tuesday night.
