Young man’s reaction to college acceptance is beautiful
Rion Holcombe just got the letter of a lifetime.
The 20-year-old, who lives with down syndrome, received his college acceptance letter recently — and his reaction is nothing short of heartwarming.
“I got accepted?” They said yes?” Holcombe says, stunned.
His mom Susan uploaded the video of him opening the letter to YouTube in early December. The video began to go viral after a Reddit post by user BillyBraski appeared Wednesday. A day later, the video has half a million views.
Holcombe was accepted to the LIFE program at Clemson University for the Fall 2014 semester. The LIFE program was designed for students with “intellectual disabilities who desire a post-secondary experience on a college campus,” the website explains.
Looks like there will be one very happy Clemson Tiger on campus next year — and deservedly so.
