MURDER ARRESTS: Cops question two over the Andrew Baptist shooting
Two people were last night being quizzed by detectives in connection with the murder of 24-year-old Andrew Baptist.
During a police operation early yesterday morning, officers arrested the pair – one in West Bay and the other in Newlands.
Mr Baptist was the second murder victim in the space of two days back in September. Five young men were shot dead in a little over a week.
Robert Bush was the first victim, followed by Mr Baptist. Preston Rivers also died in a hail of bullets and Jason Christian was shot dead, all in the West Bay area.
A fifth victim, Asher McGaw, was killed in East End. Since then only one person has been charged: Chakane Jameile Scott who is accused of murdering Mr McGaw.
Yesterday a spokeswoman for the RCIPS said: “Two men have been arrested and are detained in police custody in connection with the death of 24-year-old Andrew Baptist.”
