A gentle reminder
By Paul McGowan From PS Audio
Some nights ago Terri and I braved the cold night air to attend the annual Christmas music festival put on by the Colorado School of Music.
What a wonderful event: a 50 piece choir on risers behind the orchestra and we had 3d row seating. While not our favorite audience position it was still a remarkable experience.
I closed my eyes as the unamplified orchestra and choir lit up the insides of this massive hall, shaped like a horn.
I imagined myself sitting instead in front of a stereo system and shook my head.
Not even close.
As good as our systems are today—and with 50 years of listening to systems under my belt I’ve heard them all—we still have a lot of work left to do.
Amazing.
