A quick guide to the Cayman Islands’ Confidential Relationships (Preservation) Law (2009 Revision)
The Confidential Relationships (Preservation) Law (2009 Revision) (CRPL) seeks to maintain the confidentiality of commercial activities that take place in or in connection with the Cayman Islands, while also providing for the disclosure of confidential information through designated gateways as the interests of justice require.
The CRPL sets out what constitutes confidential information, when confidential information can be lawfully disclosed with and without the permission of the court and what the penalties are for unlawful disclosure of confidential information.
The salient points of the CRPL are summarised in the Q&A table attached.
