A Scottish kitchen made out of reclaimed ship parts

Laura’s gorgeous Glasgow apartment has many stunning details — high ceilings, original, restored features — but it’s the kitchen and accompanying dining room that are truly eye-catching. If the kitchen island above looks vaguely nautical, that’s because it’s made from reclaimed ship parts!
As Laura tells Apartment Therapy in this recent House Tour, she loves a mishmash of old and new things. The eclectic kitchen is made from “mostly reclaimed from ships and old buildings.” (Apparently the former owners are restauranteurs, and at least one of their restaurants had a nautical theme to it.)
There’s just so much life and color in this kitchen and the adjacent dining room. While Laura says the “copious amounts of stuff, especially craft equipment and toys” are embarrassing to her, we love how lived-in, warm, and welcoming it looks. We’ll cook in that kitchen and sit down to dinner at that table anytime!
