A whistleblower, a bestselling author and a glimpse into the future of mobility − Hypermotion 2020
A glimpse into the future of mobility and logistics – free of charge. What’s not to like about Hypermotion 2020? Due to the current Covid-19 situation, the event – taking place on 10th and 11th November – is purely digital. But going virtual hasn’t stopped Messe Frankfurt’s ability to attract a strong line-up of speakers. Highlights include keynote speeches from whistleblower, Edward Snowden, on the first day and best-selling author, Marc Elsberg, on the second day.
The digital Mobility Stage is playing host to the 6th German Mobility Congress, which will explore the question: ‘Climate change, digitalisation, coronavirus – what will our mobility look like in future?’ On 10th November the congress will kick off with speeches by Prof. Knut Ringat (CEO and Spokesperson of the Board of Management of the Rhein‑Main-Verkehrsverbund GmbH), Prof. Dr. Jan Ninnemann (President of the German Association of Transport Sciences (DVWG e.V.)), State Secretary Steffen Bilger, and Minister Tarek Al-Wazir.
One of Hypermotion’s highlights is set to be a session called ‘Virgin Hyperloop: Translating vision to reality’. DP World, one of the world’s biggest port operators and a global partner of Hypermotion, will be presenting innovative and integrated solutions for the entire supply chain. H.E. Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World and Chairman of Virgin Hyperloop, will be giving a keynote speech, as will Bruce Kemp, Global Director for Safety Certification and Regulatory Compliance at Virgin Hyperloop.
The session follows the announcement of a breakthrough for Virgin Hyperloop. It has successfully tested human travel in a hyperloop pod for the first time. Josh Giegel, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, and Sara Luchian, Director of Passenger Experience, were the first people in the world to ride on this new form of transportation.
The test took place at Virgin Hyperloop’s 500-meter, DevLoop test site in Las Vegas, where the company has previously run over 400 un-occupied tests. While the production vehicle will be larger and seat up to 28 passengers, the 2-seater vehicle was built to demonstrate that passengers can in fact safely travel in a hyperloop vehicle.
H.E. Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of Virgin Hyperloop, comments: “I have always had tremendous faith in the team at Virgin Hyperloop to transform this technology into a safe system, and today we have done that. We are one step closer to ushering in a new era of ultra-fast, sustainable movement of people and goods.”
Messe Frankfurt is inviting people to visit the digital event free of charge. All the presentations, sessions and start-up pitches will be available as videos on demand until 10 December, as will the opportunity to use an AI-supported, matchmaking tool to network and make new business contacts.
You will find the entire programme for both days of the conference here.
