adidas SPZL Continues its 10th Anniversary Celebrations with the DECADE Pack

Continuing the label’s 10th anniversary celebrations, this season adidas SPZL presents the DECADE pack – a footwear release that is an ode to all things archival Three Stripes, realized through the lens of Gary Aspden. Brought to life as a reimagined vision of the label’s past, present, and future, four iconic silhouettes from adidas SPZL’s past 10 years – the Garwen SPZL, the Lacombe SPZL, the Blackburn SPZL, and the Ardwick SPZL – are subtly reworked as anniversary editions.

First up, the Garwen SPZL, a silhouette originally inspired by the adidas Brisbane leisure shoes is updated in a light brown, putty, and gum colorway. The upper is leather with matching suede accents as well as perforations on the toe box and metal Trefoil branding.

The signature Lacombe SPZL, meanwhile, is brought back in a white, chalk white, and dark blue colorway. They include a number of new features including a breathable mesh tongue with patent leather branding (synonymous with a number of vintage Made in France shoes) and a suede toe bumper – paying homage to adidas’ rich history of court shoes.

Next, the DECADE pack’s take on the Blackburn SPZL – a shoe that had people queueing overnight on their first release in 2019. This revised version combines two previous iterations of the original Blackburn SPZL and Blackburn Ewood SPZL silhouettes and features a forest green suede upper, a night navy tongue and flock stripes. The shoes are finished off with gold foil prints of the Lancashire rose and the SPZL Mod Trefoil.

Finally, the Ardwick SPZL – these were introduced in 2014 as an edition of 500 pairs in partnership with Manchester stockist Oi Polloi (who have sadly since closed down) as part of the first ever SPZL collection. They created overnight queues outside the shop and have since become highly sought after for adidas collectors. This anniversary version comes with an adjusted shape, reworked T Toe, new tongue branding, flock stripes with a revised chocolate brown foxing (it was black on the 2014 release) against their now iconic moss green colorway. Staying true to the original 2014 version, the upper uses a reversed leather giving individual fluctuations in the colour from pair to pair.

The SPZL arrived on 24th May via select retailers and CONFIRMED. Signups for purchases opened on May 18th at 17:00 CET
