Five new laptops now power the administration of the Ministry of Education’s Extended Afterschool Programme (EASP), thanks to a recent donation by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC).

Staff use the computers to keep track of daily attendance in the eight EASP programmes and to complete quarterly reports for sponsors.

When it began in April 2011, the EASP initiative catered to 60 students from Grand Cayman’s public secondary schools. Currently some 160 staff and 15 volunteers offer 50 activities to more than 1400 students from 12 schools on Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac. The programme takes place between 3:30-6:30pm.

Clifton Hunter, John Gray and Cayman Brac High Schools and the Further Education Centre (CIFEC) all host programmes. So do Sir John A. Cumber, George Town, North Side and Bodden Town Primary schools. Meanwhile, Savannah, Red Bay and Prospect Primaries, as well as the Lighthouse School all take part in a combined programme at Red Bay.

PWC said they were pleased to support a programme that had made such a notably positive impact in the community. Meanwhile Minister for Education Hon. Rolston Anglin commented that in the present economic situation the generosity of private sector partners like PWC helped to enhance the delivery of public service programmes. Mr Anglin expressed his gratitude to the company.
