Alamo Rent A Car, National Car Rental brands begin Cayman Islands operations
The new location provides rental options to both domestic customers and international visitors coming to the island for business or leisure. Several initiatives are underway to benefit the Cayman Islands tourism industry, including government investment and legislation to boost the medical industry, which is expected to significantly increase medical tourism.
Other initiatives include two new hotel projects in development along seven mile beach and the new Cayman Enterprise City project, which will increase business visitor numbers. Currently, overnight visitors to Cayman Islands are at their highest levels since 2000. Trip Advisor recently voted the Cayman Islands as the number one destination in the Caribbean, the number 22 destination worldwide and number one for best adventure tour and best beach resort. Additionally, domestic and foreign private developers are investing in the region to attract more visitors.
As a result, the Owen Roberts International Airport facility is expanding to accommodate more aircraft and arrivals, including the Alamo and National location to provide visitors with an on-airport car rental option.
“Our close proximity to the United States means that many of the visitors to Grand Cayman are from North America and familiar with the Alamo and National brands.” said Matthew Bodden, spokesperson for Eurocar Rentals. “Through our partnership with Enterprise Holdings, we will be offering a wide selection of vehicles to thousands of travellers each year.”
The Alamo and National location offers daily, weekly and monthly rentals to meet customer demand, including economy, compact, and mid-size cars; convertibles and luxury sedans; and standard, soft top and large sport utility vehicles.
Founded in 1974, Alamo Rent A Car is a value-oriented, internationally recognised brand serving the rental needs of airport leisure travelers. Alamo offers low rental rates and a hassle-free customer experience at the most popular travel destinations throughout the world.
Alamo – the largest car rental provider to international travelers visiting North America – also is part of a global strategic alliance with Europcar, creating the world’s largest car rental network. Alamo is a recognized technology innovator, with the industry’s first and only online check-in system since 2005, as well as more than 171 self-service kiosks at 63 U.S. locations, which earned it the “Extra Mile Award” from Budget Travel magazine in 2007. Alamo also serves as the official rental car of Walt Disney World® Resort and Disneyland® Resort. Customers who book online receive Alamo’s best rates, and if they choose the “Prepay & Save” option when making their online reservation, they may receive an additional 10 percent discount.
Founded in 1947, National Car Rental is also a premium, internationally recognised brand. National – which launched the car rental industry’s first comprehensive frequent-renter programme – further expedites the rental process for Emerald Club members by offering counter bypass as well as Drop & GoSM service with convenient e-receipts. The Emerald Club programme also provides electronic “Arrival Alerts” and access to National’s “Emerald Aisle,” an exclusive section of the lot where members can select any vehicle as long as they reserve a mid-sized car.
St. Louis-based Enterprise Holdings owns and operates both the Alamo brand and the National Car Rental brand in North America. With annual revenues of $12.6 billion and more than 68,000 employees, Enterprise Holdings also operates, through its regional subsidiaries, more than 1 million cars and trucks, making it the largest and most comprehensive car rental service provider in the world measured by revenue, employees and fleet. National also is part of a global strategic alliance with Europcar, creating the world’s largest car rental network.
