The Ballon d’Or is the latest addition to Putellas’ impressive list of sporting accolades. This August, she was also named UEFA Women’s Player of the Year. Her illustrious career at FC Barcelona has seen her win one Champions League, five Spanish Leagues, and five Spanish Queen’s Cups, among other titles. She is also one of the captains and most recognisable players of the Spanish Women’s National Football Team.
A Historic Year
“2021 has been a historic year for both Alexia and CUPRA. Following her Ballon d’Or triumph and the launch of the CUPRA Born, our first 100% electric vehicle, now feels like the perfect moment for us to join forces. Alexia perfectly embodies CUPRA’s brand and we’re incredibly proud to welcome her to our Tribe, where together, we will continue to challenge the status quo both on the pitch and in the automotive industry”, said Antonino Labate, CUPRA’s Director of Strategy, Business Development & Operations.
“It is a pleasure and a great source of pride to be part of the CUPRA team” added Alexia Putellas. “I am very grateful for CUPRA’s support for women’s football and their trust in me as an ambassador. I hope to help and inspire the next generation through our shared style and values”.
A Tribe of Champions
As a member of the CUPRA Tribe, the Spanish superstar joins her FC Barcelona teammates Ansu Fati and Marc Ter Stegen and a group of champions who want to be the driving force of change. The brand counts among its members athletes such as Olympic gold medallists Adam Peaty, Melvin Richardson and Saúl Craviotto. The Tribe also includes ambassadors from other fields, such as actor Daniel Brühl and drivers Mattias Ekström, Jordi Gené and Mikel Azcona.
