Amazing places to see in Ladakh

An adventurous place with some awesome views- is the Land of Ladakh. With the Himalayan and Karakoram ranges surrounding it, Ladakh speaks of landscapes that have a craggy edge to them. Home to many monastic festivals, Buddhist lovers throng the area especially in the months of September when the Ladakh festival is celebrated.

Ladakh is also a paradise for all adventurous enthusiasts with bikers and trekkers populating the place in the summer months. White water rafting in Zanskar river is considered one of the spines thrilling activities while trekking in Nubra Valley is another one that captivates the tourists. But the best thing about Ladakh is its gorgeous views.


The lakes, with mountains in the background and clear sky, are photogenic and paint a picturesque view. In fact, one can just witness the scenic views and reveal themselves. The captivating beauty of the place fosters a calm and peaceful fervour. And in case you are planning to visit Ladakh, enlisted are few of the amazing places which are a must visit. 

  • Pangong lake- This enthralling landlocked lake is situated at a height of 4350 meters and extends for a span of 12 kilometres. It is also known as Pangong Tso which literally means high grassland lake.

    What is unique about the lake is its changing colours, ranging from blue, green to red at different hours of the day. The lake is a revel to look at and invites tourists from far and wide. What makes the view picturesque is the lake surrounded by the Mountains making it poster worthy.

    Many immigrant birds can also be seen gliding on the surface of the lake making it all the more spectacular. You can take a bike ride or just back and relax in the mesmerizing environment. Pangong Lake is a must when planning a Ladakh Holiday trip
  • Khardung La- A beautiful pass which is perched at a height of 5359 meters, Khardung La is a paradise for adventure lovers. It is the highest motorable road in India, which is also home to all bike enthusiasts.

    The pass invokes beautiful scenery with views of the majestic Siachen glaciers. It is also the gateway to Nubra and Shyok valleys and many trekkers love the trails here. The area has very little internet connectivity and is closed from October to May owing to heavy snowfalls and rains. However, in June and July, Khardung La will introduce you to unadulterated beauty worth seeing once in a lifetime. 
  • Nubra Valley- Located at a distance of 140 kilometres from Leh, Nubra valley is another of God’s area with the miracle touch. The snowy peaks, gorgeous valleys and the clear skies have a therapeutic essence. Also, the place is famous for its Diskit Monastery which is home to a 106 feet tall statue of Lord Buddha.

    People from all across the globe come here for mental satisfaction. Additionally, there are camping sites in the village of Turtuk and one can also enjoy camel safari in Hunder Sand Dunes. The place also has water with rich sulphur concentrate that has healing properties in them. 
  • Shanti Stupa- If you want to witness Buddhism in its purest form, Shanti Stupa is your go to place. Situated at a height of 3609 meters, the Stupa is a beautiful dome shaped structure in white that symbolises peace and calmness. With an adventurous 500 steps trek one can reach the stupa and thereafter enjoy the relics of the Buddhist principles by meditating here.

    The major attraction in the Stupa is the Dharmachakra and the mesmerizing views from atop. The best time to visit Shanti Stupa is in the months of June to September. Do visit this place to get a touch of Buddhist flavour and enjoy some breath-taking views. 
  • Tso Moriri- Also popularly known as the “Mountain Lake”, Tso Moriri is a wetland conservation reserve which is located in the Changthang Plateau. Perched at a height of 4595 meters, it sits beautifully between Ladhakh and Tibet offering enchanting views of nature.

    Flanked by mountains on all sides, the area is a perfect recluse in nature, away from the hustle, bustle of the society. Also, you can spot many rare birds here like the Brahmin duck, grebe, bare headed goose and the brown headed gull. Visit her during the months of May, June, July and August and enjoy nature’s beauty.
