Appleby announces more Cayman office promotions

Leading offshore law firm, Appleby, has announced several more promotions as it continues its growth strategy in the Cayman Islands.

These appointments complement a number of other promotions including the appointment of Anna-Lise Wisdom and Benjamin Woolf to Counsel, and the promotion of Katie Pearson and Christian Victory to Senior Associate.

Anna-Lise joined Appleby in 2007 and is a member of the Corporate and Commercial Practice Group.  She regularly advises lenders in a wide variety of finance transactions, including subscription finance. Her practice also extends to capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructuring. She has particular experience in the listing of equity and debt securities on the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange. She also assists with licensing and regulatory issues relating to regulated financial institutions in the Cayman Islands.

Benjamin joined Appleby in 2011 from onshore law firm Clifford Chance in London, and is a member of the Corporate and Commercial Practice Group. He works primarily on securitisation, representing issuers and underwriters in both public and private offerings of securities backed by a variety of asset classes, CLOs, M&A, asset finance, and subscription finance.

Katie joined Appleby in 2009 and is a member of the Litigation and Insolvency Practice Group. She specialises in international commercial litigation and insolvency with a particular emphasis on shareholders’ disputes, hedge fund disputes, company winding-up, fraud and asset recovery and trust litigation. She has experience of obtaining and defending emergency injunctive relief aimed at the preservation of assets, including freezing injunctions and receiver appointments.

Christian joined Appleby’s British Virgin Islands office in 2009 before transferring to Cayman in 2010.  He is a member of the firm’s Corporate and Commercial Practice Group and focuses on funds and investment services, including the formation, establishment and listing of mutual funds and hedge funds, and the formation of stand-alone vehicles, including segregated portfolio companies and limited partnerships. He also has experience in banking and finance, general lending, debt issuance and general aspects of banking and finance and corporate and commercial law.
