Armie Hammer files for joint custody of 2 kids, asks for estranged wife to return to U.S. from Cayman Islands

Actor Armie Hammer is starring in his own gripping, real-life drama.
The Hollywood hunk has filed for joint custody of his two young kids with estranged wife, Elizabeth Chambers, according to court documents.
The 34-year-old star has requested that his wife of 10 years return to the U.S. from the Cayman Islands to arrange a custody schedule for their 5-year-old daughter, Grace, and 3-year-old son, Ford.
Chambers is currently residing with her children in the Caribbean paradise, where she and Hammer quarantined during the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak.
After the couple announced their split in July, Hammer returned to Los Angeles.
“As the coronavirus pandemic worsened in the United States, Elizabeth and Armie elected to stay with their children temporarily in the Cayman Islands where the pandemic appeared to be under greater control,” Hammer’s attorneys stated in legal papers, according to The Blast.

Chambers filed for divorce in July, seeking primary physical custody and joint legal custody of the kids.
“Armie returned to Los Angeles this past July, with a promise from Elizabeth that she and the children would follow shortly thereafter,” reads the filing. “To date, however, Elizabeth and the children remain in the Cayman Islands and Armie has not seen the children in several months now.”
But one source close to Chambers, 38, claims the mom’s apprehension in returning to the U.S. is based on the desire to keep her kids safe.
“These are crazy times with COVID-19, shutting schools down in (Los Angeles) and Elizabeth just wants the kids to have a normal experience,” an insider blabbed to People.
Hammer revealed in August that he was living with a buddy while doing construction work.
“For the last two months or so I have lived with Ashton, worked construction with Ashton and hiked with Ashton every day,” wrote Hammer on an Aug. 28 Instagram post. “He has been such a good friend (and boss) and has been the most supportive friend anyone could ever ask for.”
