KINGSTON, Jamaica (JIS) – State Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Arnaldo Brown, will travel to the Cayman Islands this weekend for the launch of the 6th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference.

The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday in Grand Cayman.

Other than launching the conference, the State minister will meet with members of the business community and church leaders for discussions about the conference, and the Diaspora Mapping Project, which is an online survey that aims to capture the locations, interests and skills of Jamaicans overseas.

The 6th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference is scheduled to take place from June 13-18, 2015, at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, under the theme: “Jamaica and the Diaspora: Linking for Growth and Prosperity”.

Speaking with JIS News, Brown reminded Jamaicans in the Diaspora to register early for the conference via the website www.jamaicandiaspora.gov.jm or by visiting any of the country’s embassies or consulates.

Brown has also urged people to register to contribute their skills and resources to community development projects, while at the conference.

“Any Jamaican that is interested, whether here or overseas, there is an outlet for persons to sign up and to be on the programme of activities,” he noted.

Brown, along with key players in the Canadian Diaspora, recently participated in a series of launches for the biennial conference in Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton, and Montreal.
