Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, 13 June 2024 Preliminary assessments were conducted early this afternoon in response to heavy rainfall received between last night and mid-morning on Thursday, 13 June.  Duty Officers of Hazard Management Cayman Islands drove through neighbourhoods across Grand Cayman. Reports of accessibility and neighbourhoods being in good conditions were received.

Mark Ray, Director of Education Services requested for an assessment to be done on identified communities of children who may have been affected by the rainfall. Duty Officers visited the communities and neighbouring areas of Windsor Park, Randyke Gardens, Linford Pierson Highway, Washington Blvd., and Eastern Avenue in George Town. Communities in Prospect and Spotts-Newlands of George Town, and Belford Estates of Bodden Town were also reviewed. All areas were advised to be clear with minimal pools of water.

The 2024 Atlantic Hurricane season is only 13 days in and has already shown that preparedness is critical. HMCI reminds the public to become familiar with hurricane preparedness and to embrace the mindset of readiness. It is never too early to make a plan and gather items for your emergency kits. Together we can survive the season.
