Barbados golfers sixth in Hoerman Cup [ Cayman third]
BARBADOS FINISHED SIXTH as the Dominican Republic successfully defended the Hoerman Cup in the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships.
Playing at home at the Links Course at Casa de Campo, the players from the Dominican Republic posted a gross 1 151 over 72 holes of competition and were chased by Puerto Rico on 1 158.
Third were Cayman Islands (1193), fourth Bahamas (1 197) and fifth, Trinidad and Tobago (1 211). The Barbados team grossed 1 215 for sixth.
The region’s top amateur golfers from eight territories contested the Hoerman Cup, which is the symbol of team supremacy among male Caribbean golfers, while the women competed for the George Teale Memorial Trophy. (BB)
