Barbados to host this year’s Caribbean Festival of Arts: CARIFESTA XIII
Visitors will be treated to a diverse range of performances including Visage, undoubtedly the foremost party band in the Bahamas, this multi-talented soca band have even created a new sound for their region, “SOCANOO” a mixture of Junkanoo ridim of the Bahamas fused with soca. Barbadian singer Lowrey Leon will take to the stage to perform hits from his album ‘I am Barbados’ playing keyboard, drums and bass, this multi talented musician will keep you entertained. Dedicated to preserving traditional Cayman Islands kitchen dance music, The Swanky Kitchen’s sound is refreshingly sweet blending African and European Heritage, taking fans on a musical journey from the past to the future. Gun Boys Rhapsody, a work of theatre that centres around the roots of delinquency, gang culture and violent crime in Bahamian society. Directed by writer Ian Strachan and with a talented cast, it’s a show not to be missed. L’Acadco, an explosive contemporary dance force from Jamaica will treat spectators to mesmerising performances presenting the rhythms of the Caribbean people on the world stage.

This eclectic event will feature two super concerts featuring regional and International star studded performances, Signal Events for the High Arts; and the traditions of many Country Nights showcases. This diverse festival attracts people of all ages, bridging traditional and modern genres, and bringing locals and visitors together. The audience has the opportunity to engage in workshops and master classes, or simply relax and enjoy the wonderful performances across the island.
