Baroness Scotland meets Cabinet

Baroness Scotland Accepts Present From KirkconnellThe former Attorney General of the United Kingdom, Baroness Scotland met with members of Cabinet yesterday (Tuesday, 31 July 2013) following their weekly meeting.

Members of Cabinet discussed a range of subjects with the Baroness, including: anti-corruption procedures, crime reduction and inter-ministerial collaboration to deliver policy priorities.

Acting Premier, Hon. Moses Kirkconnell presented her with a piece of Caymanite artwork by Raymond Scott from Cayman Brac on behalf of the entire Cabinet. Mr Kirkconnell said that Cabinet appreciated the opportunity to speak with someone of her background and experience. These attributes he remarked, as well as her Caribbean heritage, give her invaluable insight into the complexities of law enforcement in both large and small jurisdictions.

Baroness Scotland is in the Cayman Islands to give a lecture on successful anti-corruption campaigns at the University College of the Cayman Islands, an event which took place yesterday evening.Baroness Scotland Wears a CI Pin

She visited the Cayman Islands in an official capacity in 2000 when she served as Minister for the Overseas Territories, and presently serves on the Judicial and Legal Services Commission which oversees the appointments of local judges and public sector lawyers.
