BART YASSO to attend Cayman Islands Intertrust Marathon – and Haines to complete his Six 4 Hospice!
The Intertrust Cayman Islands Marathon is set to take place on December 7, 2014 at 5:00am. And the organisers are pleased to announce that BART YASSO will be attending the 2014 event!
Yasso joined Runner’s World in 1987 to develop the groundbreaking Runner’s World Race Sponsorship Program, creating a vehicle for Runner’s World to work with over 7,000 races representing 4 million runners per year. Inducted into the Running USA Hall of Champions.
Yasso also invented the Yasso 800s, a marathon-training schedule used by thousands around the world. He is one of the few people to have completed races on all seven continents from the Antarctica marathon to the Mt. Kilimanjaro marathon. In 1987, Yasso won the U.S. National Biathlon Long Course Championship and won the Smoky Mountain Marathon in 1998. He has also completed the Ironman five times and the Badwater 146 through Death Valley. He has also cycled, unsupported and by himself, across the country twice.

And it’s not just Yasso who is the only US visitor:
“This is my 27th marathon, my first international marathon though,” Le said.
When asked how he heard about the marathon, Le suggested it was purely by chance.
“When my niece told me she was getting married on the island, I started looking for things to do. The marathon was the first thing that came up,” he said.
Le added that he tries to do a marathon in each state in America, so this isn’t new to him.
“I’m aiming to run a 3.40, but coming from Boston, I’m not used to the weather there, so I guess we’ll have to see,” Le said with a chuckle.
Also flying down for the marathon is 40-year-old Jennie Circo, from Nebraska. This will be her second time on the island.
Jennie, who signed up for the half marathon, will be participating for the first time.
“I’m looking forward to the scenery, seeing the ocean while running will be a welcomed change, it’s covered in snow here in Nebraska, so I’m looking forward to that,” she said.
After the Cayman Islands marathon, Jennie has plans to participate in marathons in Alabama in February, Georgia in March and Indiana in May.
When asked how she has prepared for these marathons, Jennie said, “I run as often as I can, I take to the treadmill in colder months.”
