Beautifying Belize City one statue at a time
From Channel5 Belize
Over the past few weeks, various works of art, sculptures depicting the wildlife of Belize, have been popping up at parks and other recreational spaces across the city. Today, a pair of turtles was officially introduced to the public by Mayor Bernard Wagner and attorney Estevan Perera. The installations are the brainchild of Perera who has been beautifying the Old Capital one sign, or in this case, one statue at a time.

“The idea with this new project is to beautify the city and to create an image of like a little museum around the city, so that the tour companies and the tourists, as they travel through the city, could experience a little bit of Belize, a little bit more of Belize by bringing in these structures and these statues for them to see and it also allows the tour guides to create a story and to show, to increase the experience that the tourists have while visiting Belize.

“Well certainly we want to commend Mr. Perera for this great initiative and it never took something hard for the council to support it. Here is a gentleman who is demonstrating great generosity, demonstrating civic pride and demonstrating overall what you would call corporate responsibility and we want to see more of this type of effort, not only from Mr. Perera but probably from other business houses that contribute to the beauty and experience of Belize City.”Be Sociable, Share!
