St. Kitts’ set for Quantum of the Seas arrivals

St. Kitts – which has been planning, working, gaining stature in the cruise ship industry – announced some big news last week: Royal Caribbean International’s Quantum of the Seas super cruise ship will be including St. Kitts in its 11-night Eastern Caribbean and 12-night Southern Caribbean routes.

“The fact that Royal Caribbean has included St. Kitts as a port of call for this new ship is a testament to the quality of the destination’s expanding infrastructure,” said Senator Ricky Skerritt, ministst-kitts-quantum-2-copyer of Tourism and International Transport, Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs.

“Our wealth of attractions and activities set against the backdrop of our rich nature, culture, history and friendly people provide an authentic Caribbean experience that clearly has an enduring appeal to cruise passengers,” Skerritt said.

The Quantum of the Seas, which will sail from Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne, NJ., is the first of Royal Caribbean’s Quantum fleet. The vessel feature the North Star, a capsule ride takes guests on a more than 300 feet in the air; and RipCord, the first skydiving simulator at sea. There’s also the sea’s first bumper car ride and roller skating rink, a rock-climbing wall, an ice-skating rink, and surf simulator.

Earlier this year, St’ Kitts released the results of study citing major gains in cruise ship tourism, including a  400 percent increase in arrivals and high marks in direct cruise tourism spending and passenger satisfaction.
