Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) for the UK for Cayman Islands nationals

Sample 30 day vignetteFrom 31 May 2015, the UK Government will begin to issue Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) for Cayman nationals travelling to the UK for more than six months.

A BRP is a credit card sized card (see images), which shows a person’s status in the UK. It can be used as proof of right to work and / or study and to access public services. BRPs provide a more secure, streamlined and faster method for applicants, businesses and services to verify someone’s identity and right to be in the UK.

brp-frontuk-immigration-biometricsSuccessful applicants will receive a vignette (or sticker) in their passport that will be valid for 30 days, instead of a vignette with the full grant of leave to stay in UK. This will allow the applicant to enter the UK and collect their BRP from a designated post office. The post office and 30 day travel window will be determined using information provided in the application form.

All BRPs will need to be collected from a designated Post Office within 10 days of arrival in the UK. The vignette affixed in the passport is a temporary document and should not be accepted as proof of entitlement to work, train, study or claim benefits.
