BNY Mellon opens

BNY Mellon has opened its first wealth management office in the Cayman Islands as part of an effort to expand the firm’s global capabilities to serve international clients, the wealth manager announced Wednesday.

The firm has always had international clients in the Cayman Islands but for the past 30 years they were served through local lawyers, accountants and other local partners, Susan Rivers, a company spokesperson said.

“We currently serve a sizable number of family offices and ultra high-net-worth individuals with complex transactional needs that can be served by our Cayman location,” Peter Moertl, head of BNY Mellon’s International Wealth Management group, said in statement.

In addition to its new office in the Cayman Islands, the group has offices in New York, London, Hong Kong and a presence in Toronto.  The group focuses on the wealth and investment planning, trust and estate planning and private banking needs of high-net-worth clients around the globe, BNY Mellon said.

Patrizia Bruzio, vice president for International Wealth Management Wealth Advisory Services and general manager and director of the BNY Mellon Trust Company (Cayman) Ltd., will head up the office, which is located in Grand Cayman in Camana Bay, one of the island’s newest office, retail and entertainment complexes.

BNY Mellon Wealth Management has about $168 billion in private client assets and an international network of offices.
