Eugene Ebanks, Chief Officer Mrs. Mary Rodrigues, The Premier Hon. McKeeva Bush, Chief Education Officer Mrs. Shirley Wahler, PTA President Mr. Pierre Foster and Bodden Town MLA Mr. Dwayne Seymour

Throughout the long history of the Bodden Town Primary School, many changes have been made, but one of the biggest and greatest began on June 2nd 2011, and was completed on August 27th, 2012.

This change was a brand new classroom block to accommodate the schools growing population.

The two story classroom and administration block adds 10, 710 square feet of learning space. It includes six classrooms, each containing a restroom and storage room, and a brand new library for all students and staff members.

Due to the fact that the building is two stories high, a disabilities elevator was also included for students with special needs.

The new administration office consists of the principal’s office, the vice principal’s office, a conference room, and a reception area. Along with these changes, a netball court was re-built on the school compound. Finally, the new building was also designed to withstand up to a category 3 hurricane.

The Minister for Education Honorable Rolston Anglin, JP was very pleased to present the new building to the Bodden Town Primary School and the Bodden Town Community. He stated, “When I first came in to office, the Chief Officer and I toured all the schools and it was apparent that some of the primary schools were in desperate need of new facilities. Through the support of my Cabinet colleagues, I was able to secure the funds needed for these important upgrades and am delighted today to open this new building. I would like to thank my colleagues for their support in making this building a reality. I would also like to thank the Public Works Department who provided the architectural designs and joint project managed the construction with the Ministry’s Facility Manager Tommy Ebanks.

The Minister continued by saying, “I am also thrilled to have seen the modular classrooms removed from the site, and the now expanded outdoor play area as a result. This further adds to the healthier and improved school environment for our Bodden Town students.”

The Premier, Honorable McKeeva Bush, OBE, JP was also at the presentation of the new Bodden Town Primary School building. He gave his approval of the new building by saying, “These are exciting times for the Bodden Town Primary teachers and students as they now have top quality facilities to help them expand their learning and improve their education experience. I would like to thank Minister Anglin, his Chief Officer Mrs. Rodrigues and the entire education team on a job well done and for being so committed to improving the education system for our students.”

Also in attendance at the event was Minister for Health, Environment, Youth, Sports & Culture Hon. Mark Scotland, JP, Bodden Town MLAs Mr. Dwayne Seymour and Mr. Anthony Eden, OBE, JP, West Bay MLA Captain Eugene Ebanks, JP, and George Town MLA Mr. Ellio Solomon.
