Briefing and Orientation Note for new Cayman government
A brief presentation was given in regards to the proposed Briefing Note and Orientation Programme for the new Government at the 22nd April 2013 Deputy Governor and Chief Officers’ Meeting.

1. Welcome
The Deputy Governor welcomed everyone and prayer was offered.
2. Formal Approval of Minutes
The April 15 meeting minutes were approved by all attendees for circulation.
3. Matters Arising from the Minutes
There were no matters arising.
4. Presentation – Preparation for New Government
A brief presentation was given in regards to the proposed Briefing Note and Orientation Programme for the new Government. A Briefing Note template will be circulated to all Chief Officers for input from the various Ministries and Departments.
The Deputy Governor thanked Mr. Robert Lewis of the Cabinet Office and Mr. Peter Gough for their hard work on this project.
5. Budget Discussion
There was a brief discussion in regards to the Budget and Pre-Election Report.
6. Budget Delivery Committee Update
Chief Officers were provided with a brief update on the last Budget Delivery Committee Meeting.
7. Travel Policy
Chief Officers were asked to provide feedback on this policy, which is now in the consultation phase, by the 29th April.
8. Any Other Business
. Chief Officers were reminded of the 7-21 hours of continued education/training agreed to in their Performance Agreements.
. The Deputy Governor shared with Chief Officers an award presented to the Civil Service by the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens in recognition of the Service’s commitment and support in having the most participants in the 2013 Walking Workout. The award is to be placed in a central location in GAB. The Deputy Governor also expressed how proud he was to have received such an award and commended those Civil Servants who participated.
. CO Whittaker shared the Child Month calendar of events with Chief Officers. The Civil Service will support the Feed Our Future Child Month Dress Down Day on Friday, 10 May. All participants are asked to wear bright colours in honour of this year’s Child Month theme – Care, Advocate, Protect. Further information will be circulated via CS Messages.
. Chief Officers were advised that recommendations for Honours and Awards for the Queen’s New Year Honours 2014 should be submitted by Wednesday 15 May 2013. Further details will be provided.
. CIG Agencies are encouraged to make submissions for next year’s CISHRP Top Employers Award. PoCS will work with interested agencies.
. Each Ministry and Portfolio’s Business Continuity Plan should be submitted to PoCS by the 10 May, for this Hurricane Season.
. Chief Officer’s indicated that approved Staff had been selected and would be attending the Safety and Hazard Management training. This training has been endorsed by the Department of Labour and Pensions. .
